The engine oil and filter\u00a0collect\u00a0contaminants that can damage your engine, if they are not removed\/replaced for long periods of time, additives in the oil can break down, which will increase the\u00a0amount of friction on the engine’s moving metal parts, and thus cause engine overheating and increase its wear and tear rate, major engine problem can happen.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

  • Check the oil level regularly.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • Change the oil every 10000 KM or every 6 months, whichever comes first.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • Replace the oil filter with every change.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    For an accurate reading of your oil level, switch off the engine, remove the dipstick, wipe it with a clean cloth or paper towel and then reinsert it. Remove the dipstick again to read the oil level.\u00a0Your engine will work most efficiently when filled to the ‘Max’ level with oil. Take care not to overfill it — and ensure it does not fall below the ‘Min’ level.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    If the vehicle is being driven in severe conditions, more frequent oil and filter changes are required.     At Hyundai, we change the engine coolant every two years or 40,000 Kms. The life of the engine coolant depends on its ability to inhibit corrosion. Silicates, phosphates and\/or borates are used as corrosion inhibitors to keep the solution alkaline.\u00a0<\/span>As long as<\/span>\u00a0the coolant remains so, corrosion is held in check and there’s no need to change the coolant. But as the corrosion inhibiting chemicals are used up over time, electrolytic corrosion starts to eat away at the metal inside the engine and radiator.\u00a0<\/span>So<\/span>\u00a0changing the coolant periodically as pre-emptive maintenance is a good way to prevent costly repairs.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

    Ensure the wiper jets are correctly aimed and that the washer bottle is not only\u00a0full, but\u00a0has an appropriate concentration of screen wash mix. More concentrate will be required in winter to help prevent freezing. And\u00a0it’s\u00a0always worth checking your wiper blades for signs of cracking — it’s much better to notice the cracks in your wipers while stationary on your driveway, rather than in the fast lane.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Brake fluid is a hydroscopic fluid which absorbs moisture during operation. For safety reason, regularly check brake fluid level, it should be\u00a0<\/span>maintaining<\/span>\u00a0between the Max and Min scale of the reservoir tank.     The battery is the backbone of the electrical system. Most cars use a lead-acid battery. The battery is made of a plastic case, containing an arrangement of positive and negative lead plates separated by synthetic plate separators. The plates are connected to a set of terminals, which provide connection to the vehicle. The battery is filled with electrolyte, a mixture of sulfuric acid and water.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    The electrolyte and lead plates provide the chemical action necessary to store and release energy. Your vehicle’s battery and its connections should be checked at every oil change. It should be mounted securely, as vibration takes a toll on battery life. On batteries with removable filler caps, the electrolyte should be checked and topped off with distilled water. Battery connections should be clean,\u00a0tight\u00a0and corrosion-free. If you are going on vacation for more than two weeks and you are leaving the car parked without use, disconnect the battery from the car by removing the negative terminal cable. This will reduce the discharge.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Spark plugs are responsible for air-fuel ignition, therefore regular replacement must be done to ensure good sparks are generated when required.     The air filter will become dirty and restrict air flow to the engine. When air filter is blocked because of un-regular cleaning & replacing in case required that, fuel efficiency and engine performance will decrease, Therefore, it is recommended to replace the air filter if required in the time of the regular maintenance. If the temperature gets above 90\u00c2\u00b0C, rubber seals begin to harden, which leads to leaks and pressure loss.\u00a0<\/span>The only way to repair the damage now is with a costly overhaul<\/span>.
